Dory is back! But this time, she’s bringing a few friends with her in the new Disney Pixar movie, Finding Dory coming soon, on June 2016!
Ellen DeGeneres, announced the new details of the animated film at the Disney D23 expo on Friday, Aug. 14.
Directed by Andrew Stanton, from the original 2003 film Finding Nemo, Dory attempts to find her family all the way across the ocean in Monterey, California. Thoughout the movie, Dory meets an octopus named Hank, voiced by Modern Family’s cast Ed O’ Neil, a beluga whale voiced by Ty Burrell, and Destiny, a killer whale starring Kaitlin Olson.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Stanton, “honestly thought the story was a ‘closed circuit’.”
“I wanted to know that if this charming forgetful fish ever got lost again, that she would be okay, that she would find her way home,” he said. “And at the end of Finding Nemo, I wasn’t confident about that. So that’s when I knew I had another story.”
On Saturday, Aug. 15, Disney twitted a picture of Hank and Dory announcing “Finding Dory” in theaters on June, 17, 2016.
