Who needs bugs spray when you can use a Victoria’s Secret perform to keep the Mosquitos away?
The Bombshell Eau de Parfum is most famous for the delightful and amazing smell it contains attracting people and resisting insects.
As an experiment, researcher Stacy Rodriquez and her colleagues at New Mexico State University placed 20 mosquitos at a Y-shaped tube one treated with insect repellant and the other untreated. A volunteer placed her hands in both ends of forked tubes if the mosquitos moved toward the untreated hands or stayed still the treatment was not working.
But how did scientists come up with the idea?
“There was some previous literature that said fruity, floral scents attracted mosquitoes, and to not wear those. It was interesting to see that the mosquitoes weren’t actually attracted to the person that was wearing the Victoria’s Secret perfume – they were repelled by it,” Rodriquez explained.
According to CBS News, the spray avoids the yellow fever mosquito and the Asian tiger mosquito, both known to transmit dengue fever, chikugunya, yellow fever and other diseases.
