Congratulations, Gwen Stefani!
The singer went straight to number one with the release of her highly anticipated third studio album, This Is What The Truth Feels Like. This is Stefani’s first ever solo LP to reach the top spot on the Billboard 200.
This Is What The Truth Feels Like reportedly sold 84,000 equivalent album units during it’s first week instores, with 76,000 of them being pure album sales. Billboard will rank an album’s success based upon multi-metric consumption and streaming equivalent albums.
Stefani credits her newfound romance with fellow Voice coach, Blake Shelton, for inspiring This Is What The Truth Feels Like.
“I think that when you go through what I went through, or what I’m still going through, you think you’re hopeless. You don’t know what’s going to happen,” the singer explained to Refinery29 of Shelton, who divorced Miranda Lambert back in July. “You panic. It was a really super-unexpected gift to find a friend, somebody who happened to be going through the exact same thing as me, literally mirroring my experience. I don’t think it’s an accident that that happened. It saved me.”
