With the mainstream media relentlessly focusing on all the negative things going on around us, it doesn’t take much to be convinced that we are all doomed, but I want to remind all of you that a simple act of kindness can change someone’s day. I was recently thrift store shopping and waiting to buy my purchases when a woman in front of me had an item she wanted. She dug in her pockets and discovered she was short by quite a bit. She shook her head, embarassed she couldn’t afford the $5 purse she desired. So I decided at that moment, in a random act of kindness, to tell the cashier, she can put it on my tab. The woman’s face lit up, so thankful that after spending time selecting the one thing she wanted, she was able to take it home. She thanked me, and I simply smiled and said, “Enjoy it!” Everyone is capable of doing nice things for others. Maybe one day your opportunity will come. What will you do?
