New Music Showcase for Friday 1/12/18 highlights new funk, pop, and more

Four new singles released this week have a mixture of funk, pop, and playfulness as Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake, Troye Sivan, and Camila Cabello drop new tracks!

Having the funky new jack swing sound of Bell Biv Devoe’s 1990 classic, “Poison,” comes Bruno Mars collaboration with white hot rapper Cardi B called Finesse. Already a number one US download and currently impacting top 40 radio, it’s the latest single from Mars’ 24K Magic release. 60 million YouTube views can’t be wrong!

With that signature Timbaland sound, Justin Timberlake returns to his techno-pop roots with the first single from his forthcoming album Man of the Woods, expected in February. Filthy has an electro funk feel to it.

Taking inspiration from Madonna’s racy music video Justify my Love, teen idol Troye Sivan is back with his most confident track, My My My from the forthcoming album TS2. The South African artist says it’s a song about liberation, freedom, and love. Sivan shares the thought of throwing all inhibition to the wind, being present in your body, loving wholeheartedly, moving the way you’ve always wanted to, and dancing the way you feel – hopefully to his song! At nearly 3 million views on YouTube, while holding the fifth largest download of the day in the US and fourth worldwide, My My My is a must listen!

Written by One Republic Ryan Tedder and produced by Grammy Award winning Frank Dukes, Camila Cabello may have her third single on deck, from her solo debut album Camila, with “Into It,” a fun, playful, and sexy song. The Cuban-American singer has experienced tremendous success since departing from girl group Fifth Harmony and continues her climb to the top in 2018.
