Oscar winners for 2018 announced for Academy Awards Ceremony

The 2018 Academy Awards show has concluded.

The film with the most nominations heading in was Gulliermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water with 13. By the end of the night it had won a leading four awards, including Best Picture and Best Director. It previously won the producers guild award for Best Picture, usually a strong indication of the film that wins the Oscar for the same honor.

Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk won three awards.

Best Visual Effects and Cinematography was given to Blade Runner 2049 starring Ryan Gosling.

Coco, Darkest Hour, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri also won two awards each.

I, Tonya, Get Out, Call Me by Your Name, Phantom Thread, and the Kobe Bryant produced and written Dear Basketball received one award each. Some critics were not so receptive to Bryant’s win saying it detracts from the #metoo movement. Bryant was accused of domestic violence in 2003. It was settled out of court.
