Things are hoping to cool down soon in The Valley of the Sun and there are more and more events to check out every weekend. Here are a few of the fun happenings around town.
Attention animal and art lovers! The Furry Friends and Fine Art Festival is this weekend! It returns to Shemer Art Center near 5th street and Camelback in Phoenix. Highlights include paw readings and pet adoptions by the Arizona Humane Society and Woofs, Wiggles & Wags. Artists will showcase animal-themed paintings, drawings, photography, ceramics and more. Live music, business vendors, entertainment, and snacks from Black Cat Coffee and Short Leash Hot Dogs will make it a day to remember. The all ages event goes from 8 a.m to 2 p.m this Saturday September 15th. Admission is just $5 per person or $10 per family.
Where can you find “The World’s First and Only Heavy Metal Mariachi Band?” They are performing this weekend at the 7th annual Rockin’ Taco Street Fest in downtown Chandler! The band appeared on season 10 of “America’s Got Talent.”
If you go, expect to enjoy a day of tacos, adult beverages, entertainment, and activities. The Rockin’ Taco Street Fest will return to the Dr. A.J Chandler Park from Noon to 9 p.m this Saturday, September 15th.
Over the years, the festival has grown from 200 guests to over 10,000 eager taco-eating fans. Each of the more than 20 vendors will offer at least one taco for $2. It doesn’t just stop there though. There’s more than just tacos, there’s churros, elote, kettle corn, snow cones, ice cream, and more! There’s even taco, burrito, and elote eating contests for $100 cash prizes. So what do you wash it all down with? There’s aqua frescas, horchata, and lemonade plus adult beverages. Just for fun you’ll be entertained by Lucha Libre Voz wrestling, a custom lowrider car show, and performances from Ballet Folklorico Quetzalli. A kids’ zone features bouncers, pinatas, and more! If this sounds fun to you, the 7th Annual Rockin’ Taco Street Fest is this Saturday, September 15 in downtwn Chandler at Dr AJ Chandler Park from Noon to 9pm. Entry is only $10.
The promoters of Messy Fest want you to know that life is too short to play clean. Set for Saturday, September 15, 2018 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m, Messy Fest promises a great time for a great cause. Ideal for kids?! Yes, but not just kids. It’s for anyone and everyone that enjoys fun and wants to get messy without worrying about the cleanup.
The outdoor event will feature all things cluttered, chaotic and untidy with massive mud pits, food fights, grape stomps, ice cream slides, paint wars, slime pits, toddler fun zone, slip and slide, and more messy fun! You can bet that they have a giant rinse zone so you can keep your car clean. Plus the fire department will be on hand to rinse everyone off. If you go, we highly recommend water shoes. Messy Fest will be held this Saturday, September 15th from 8 a.m.to 1 p.m. at Horseshoe Park & Equestrian Centre in Queen Creek. Cost is $20 per person, or $5 to be a spectator.
