There’s always an Uber driver who has a story of someone leaving trash in their car after a ride, or throwing up in the back seat. Either way, that can get you banned from riding pretty soon.
Uber announced this past Tuesday that they will be putting temporary suspensions and bans on riders who receive bad ratings from drivers.
Riders, after their ride, are prompted to rate their driver if you open the Uber app shortly after your drop-off. Drivers have the same feature, and they have the ability to include notes explaining why they gave the review they did.
Future drivers can look at your reviews prior to accepting your pickup, and can chose to deny the request if they see ratings they don’t like.
Uber’s official statement in a blog post said: “Riders may lose access to Uber if they develop a significantly below average rating”
When asked how they could prevent these situations: “Riders will receive tips on how to improve their ratings, such as encouraging polite behavior, avoiding leaving trash in the vehicle and avoiding requests for drivers to exceed the speed limit.”
You better tip your driver, or some ‘ill will’ may be reflected on your rating!
Just kidding, they probably can’t give you a bad rating for that, but hey, you should still tip them. They work hard!
