Summer jobs… everyone has that story about their first job being a lifeguard or restaurant employee over the summer. Now you’re kids can still have that luxury, as Scottsdale was named as the second best city in the country to land a summer job!
A media company called Wallet Hub took 182 major cities in the U.S., and ranked them all based on the following criteria (plus other smaller metrics):
- Median Income of Part-Time Workers (Scottsdale, number 1)
- Youth Job Market (Scottsdale, number 3)
- Social Environment and Affordability for One-Bedroom Rentals (Scottsdale, number 6)
- Summer Employment Rate
- Internship Availability
- Commuter Friendliness
Scottsdale isn’t the only one giving our teens the bacon, as Phoenix, Chandler, Tempe, and Glendale are other cities that cracked the top 100.
Mesa, Gilbert, Peoria, and Tucson also made it onto the list of 182 outside of the top 100.
The majority of these jobs come from the many resorts, restaurants, and hotels that often get very busy during the summertime.
Santa Clarita, CA was ranked as the worst city to get a summer job, coming in dead last. It is located directly north of Los Angeles, and directly east of Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia.
