Mark Zuckerberg announced during a live question and answer session that Facebook was testing alternatives to the “Like” button.
“People have about the ‘dislike’ button for many years,” Zuckerberg said. “Today is the day that I actually get to say we are working on it.”
We are not 100% sure that the “dislike” button will be called just that. The tool would not necessarily be used to show disdain for posts, but rather it would show empathy for posts that seem inappropriate to “like”, such as someone passing away or news or natural disasters.
“Not every moment is a good moment,” he said. Facebook is working on the tool, Zuckerberg added, but gave no official release date.
