EVIT Radio to Broadcast 21 East Valley High School Football Games

88.7 FM, The Pulse, and 90.7 FM, The Goldmine, the student radio stations at East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT), will broadcast 21 East Valley high school football games during the 11-week regular season, from August 18th through October 27th.  The broadcast schedule features schools throughout the East Valley, including Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Scottsdale, Ahwatukee and Queen Creek.  It also includes the defending 6A champion (Chandler), 6A runner-up (Mountain Pointe), 5A champion (Williams Field), 5A runner-up (Centennial), 4A champion (Saguaro) and a rematch of the 3A title game (American Leadership Academy v. Sabino).

The Pulse and The Goldmine are products of EVIT’s Radio/Audio Production class, located at the Main Campus of EVIT.  Both are public radio stations that showcase the talents of the students enrolled in the program.

EVIT Radio Instructor and longtime ESPN-Chicago sportscaster Dave Juday will lead the broadcasts, along with EVIT Radio alums Steven Cusumano and Jose Solis, while giving current EVIT Radio students the opportunity to gain valuable experience contributing as play-by-play announcers, analysts & sideline reporters.  EVIT students will also handle all pre and post-production of the broadcasts.

The Pulse and The Goldmine have established themselves as the go-to place for live radio coverage of high school athletics.  Last school year, Pulse Sports served as the radio home for the AIA’s Friday night high school football “Game of the Week,” broadcast 18 regular season boys and girls high school basketball games and featured a seven-game high school baseball and softball slate.

Current high school sophomores & juniors who are interested in sports broadcasting and learning more about The Pulse and the opportunities within the Radio/Audio Production programs at EVIT, please contact Dave Juday at [email protected]
