999 Haunted Houses in Arizona you should visit

Ok, now we all know there are not 999 haunted houses in Arizona, but nine do exist, ranging from a little scary to very scary.

Most people are aware of the big for-profit haunted attractions throughout the Valley, but how about the private residences who spend countless hours putting together their creative Halloween displays to make others happy. That’s where we focus this story.

A Tempe homeowner is taking Halloween celebrations to a whole other level creating a “Nightmare Before Christmas” themed display. Christmas wreaths have eyes and teeth. Windows appear to stare at you. Don’t wanna give away too much though! The show is located at Rural Rd just N. of Warner at 1001 E. El Freda Road in Tempe.

Every Halloween Scottsdale resident Chris Birkett creates the best private home haunted house in the valley. He dedicates his front yard, garage, and backyard to his love for the holiday. This one is a little less scary than some of the professional haunted houses in town, so it’s cool to bring the kids along. It does offer some fright, though. If you’re claustrophobic, you might want to sit this one out. There are creepy, cramped hallways inside the garage that are reminiscent of the Haunted House at Disneyland, only smaller and more sinister. The fun runs now through October 31 from 6:30 to 10pm. This scary attraction even has a website! Located at 8414 E Valley Vista Dr Scottsdale, AZ 85250. 480.607.5531

This is another good one for older kids, but the blood curdling screams and weird kids popping out from nowhere might be a little too scary for small children. The fun runs all week leading up to Halloween night. 7 to 9:30pm daily except Oct 30th. The scary fun offers a website for more info. Located at 1740 E. Purdue Ave. Phoenix, AZ 85020 Info Line: 602-507-7160
