Check out career training options at the Annual EVIT Expo

EVIT Expo is the perfect time for East Valley families to see career training options that are available for high school students and adults, and for current EVIT parents to see what their students have been working on during the fall semester.

While the Expo is held at the Main Campus, EVIT’s East Campus will also be showcased at the Expo through exhibits and activities.

EVIT East instructors, as well as EVIT Main Campus instructors, will be on-hand to answer questions about their programs.

EVIT, a Joint Technical Education District (JTED) serving high school students and adults who reside in 10 East Valley school districts, provides advanced career and technical education (CTE) at two central campuses in Mesa – the Main and East campuses – and at Apache Junction High School. Starting next August, EVIT will also be operating a central campus in Fountain Hills.

The EVIT JTED also provides funding to its 10 founding member districts so they can offer CTE at their high schools too. But unlike those programs, EVIT Main, a 65-acre campus in west Mesa, and EVIT East, an 11-acre campus at 6625 S. Power Road, are all CTE, all the time. EVIT Main and East students spend a half-day at their high schools in academic classes and a half-day at an EVIT central campus in advanced career training.

During the Expo, guests can tour the Main Campus by taking a trolley tour operated by Tempe’s Ollie the Trolley. Two trolleys will be running, so visitors can get on and off all over the campus to go inside buildings, see programs and meet instructors.

Returning to Expo this year, AZ Bounce Pro will provide inflatable games, activities and rides. Food trucks will also be on hand. EVIT’s radio station, 88.7FM The Pulse, will provide music.

Admission to EVIT Expo is free.

“We hope parents of our current EVIT students will stop by the Expo to see their student’s program and enjoy some family fun,” said Superintendent Dr. Sally Downey. “We also hope East Valley families who have never visited our campus will attend EVIT Expo to see the many tuition-free career training options we can provide their students. You really have to see EVIT for yourself to understand how we can help your child find their career passion – and turn that passion into a paycheck.”

EVIT offers over 40 tuition-free programs for high school students who reside in Mesa, Scottsdale, Chandler, Gilbert, Higley, Tempe, Fountain Hills, J.O. Combs, Queen Creek and Apache Junction districts. Tuition-based programs for adults are also offered, with financial aid available to those who qualify.

EVIT students have a 98 percent high school graduation rate, 2 out of 3 go on to college, and 92 percent are in jobs, college or the military within one year of completing their training.
