Demi Lovato hospitalized for heroin overdose condition unknown

25 year old pop singer Demi Lovato has been rushed to a local Los Angeles hospital due to an apparent heroin overdose at her home in Hollywood.

The Los Angeles Police and Fire Department arrived on the scene and treated Demi with Narcan – an emergency medication to reverse the effects of a narcotic overdose. Her condition is currently unknown.

According to TMZ, when paramedics arrived at her home she was unconscious.

Sunday night she had performed with Iggy Azalea at the California Mid-State Fair and just last night, she celebrated a friend’s birthday in West Hollywood, snapping pictures of herself and others in the group and posting them on her private Instagram. She seemed happy.

The talented performer has struggled with the highly addictive pain killer for awhile. In 2011, she went through rehab where she was treated for bipolar disorder, bulimia, self-harm, and addiction. She relapsed upon leaving the facility and went on to a sober living facility for a year.

Celebrities from Ariana Grande to Ellen Degenres, and fans alike, have wished her well and send support.

UPDATE: USA Today published that the singer is now in stable condition, according to People and Variety.
