Aretha Franklin The Queen of Soul has passed away at 76 in her Detroit home

Surrounded by lots of love, family, and friends, the legendary singer known as “The Queen of Soul,” Aretha Franklin has passed away.

A friend of the artist explained that Aretha had “been ill for a long time” and her loved ones had been warned her death was imminent.

Her nephew claims she was alert, laughing, teasing, and able to recognize people prior to her death.

Celebrity admirers and collaborators had poured in since news of her failing health became public earlier this week.

A band mate says she was a fighter.
