EVIT Radio/Audio Production Students Nominated as Finalists for John Drury National High School Radio Awards

The Pulse Radio students in EVIT’s Radio/Audio Production program were nominated as finalists for seven awards at the 2018-2019 John Drury High School Radio Awards. The nominations were released this morning, with the winners to be announced at a ceremony on May 4, 2019.

EVIT senior Callie Claridge was nominated twice – as a finalist for Best News Feature Story for one of her EVIT Student Spotlight productions, and in the Best Public Affairs Program category, for her Public Pulse interview show about lupus awareness and the Arizona Walk to End Lupus now. Three EVIT students were nominated in the same category – Best Sportscast – Zach Larson, Spencer Cihak & Josh Simon. EVIT students are also nominated twice in the Best Promo category – with Katie Poloncak, Enrique Garcia, Adam Smith, Tito Sandoval & Alex Lamont recognized for their 2018 Halloween promo, while Brayden Castelhano, Johan Rodriguez Pagola, Maxx Lopez, Maddie McCarty, Will Xander & Ellie Willard were nominated for their haunted House promo production.

This is the first year that EVIT students have competed in the John Drury High School Radio Awards, a national competition, presented by North Central College in Naperville, IL and WONC-FM.
