Chandler and Mesa Schools To Offer Free Lunch To Students Who Can’t Afford It

The days of not being able to afford school lunches are soon becoming a thing of the past

I remember when my school lunch account didn’t have enough money in it, I would have a cold PB&J sandwich a small bag of sliced carrots.

I’m not the only kid who went through this lunchtime crisis, and it has been the source of bullying across the country. Chandler and Mesa Schools plan to put an end to that with their new lunch program.

This summer, select Mesa and Chandler Schools will be offering a summer program that will allow enrolled students to eat breakfast and lunch for free. Parents can also eat at minimal cost.

The program for some schools will start on June 3rd, and others will start as late as July 1st. The schools include all grade level-specific schools, and will be available for kids 18 and younger and their families.

Chandler Schools are not requiring any proof of income, however Mesa’s schools are asking parents to sign up.

Let’s help end the stigma for assisted lunch costs!
