Week 8 kicked off with the Cardinals losing for the first time this season after a miscommunication between Kyler Murray and AJ Green caused an interception in the endzone late in the 4th quarter. The craze continued into Halloween Sunday as the (1-5) New York Jets defeated the (5-2) Cincinnati Bengals behind Mike White, who passed for 405 yards and three touchdowns in his first NFL start. Another first time starter shined, as Cooper Rush and the Cowboys knocked off the Vikings 20-16 on Sunday night football. It was a week of upsets as the Buccaneers and Chargers both lost, while the Patrick Mahomes-led Chiefs narrowly escaped the Giants in Monday Night Football thanks to two late field goals from Harrison Butker.
Key injuries swept through the league this week, as the NFL’s leading rusher, Derrick Henry will be out 8-10 weeks with a foot injury. The Saints’ starting QB, Jameis Winston, will need season ending surgery for a torn ACL. Also, Falcons’ star wide receiver, Calvin Ridley announced he’ll be stepping away from football to focus on his mental health.
Looking ahead to Week 9, the action kicks off with the Jets traveling to Indianapolis to take on the Colts in Thursday Night Football.
